Looking for Addiction Treatment and Drug Rehab in Huntington, Connecticut?
Addiction treatment in Huntington, Connecticut, is designed to reduce the physical dependence of an addict and help restore a sense of health and well-being. Many people suffer from the devastating effects of addiction, including loss of jobs, relationships, and dignity.
John is a former heroin addict who suffers from constant cravings for the drug. He has lost control over his life and is homeless. “I’ve had problems with alcohol before, but heroin is the worst,” says John. “I feel like I’m losing control. It’s like I’m not myself. I feel like I’m losing my mind.”
John can’t sleep at night, he can’t concentrate in class, and he dreads going to work. His family and friends are constantly looking for a new way to help him, but nothing seems to work.
“I can go into treatment at a rehab, but that’s a long process and it can cost you a lot of money. And it’s hard to go back to being homeless, which is what I was before.” John’s wife, who is also addicted to heroin, supports his desire to try any kind of treatment that might help.
John was referred to the program that is offered by the Center for Addiction and Recovery in Huntington. His wife has been a volunteer for the center for several years, but John was the first person to make an appointment to meet with the director. “I knew I needed help, so I was ready to get in touch with this expert. It was like getting a new friend in the family.”
John’s family and friends are so happy with the treatment at the center that they have asked to donate money to it. The family has become one with the center, and John can spend time with his family and close friends, while enjoying the support and care that he receives.
John’s success at getting off of drugs has been swift. Even though he has relapsed several times in the past, he is determined to stop using and is now on medication to help him stay clean. “I had to let go of the old way, and learn how to accept and love myself again.” John’s life has changed dramatically since he began the treatment at the center, and he is happier than he has ever been.
“John never gives up and keeps his head held high. He knows that the staff and volunteers are there to help him and support him. He understands that if he gets himself to this point where he feels weak, he needs support, the support of others will be there.
John feels more optimistic about himself because he is getting the best of both worlds. He is getting the support he needs from the staff, the support he needs from others, and he also gets to attend classes and work through the programs at the center.
The addiction program at the Center for Addiction and Recovery in Huntington is different from the other programs offered at other addiction treatment centers. In this program, there are professional counselors that have been trained to help addicts who want to break free from the destructive habits of alcohol and drugs.
John wants to give up drugs and alcohol but cannot do it on his own. When John was trying to quit, he found that the professionals at the center were very supportive and willing to help.
“I feel good now that my addiction is over, and I am not dependent on anything else. The addiction can’t control me, but I can control myself.”
He has also discovered that there is hope for the future with his addiction. “I don’t have to worry about losing everything I have built for myself. I know that the love and support from friends and family are enough to help me overcome this problem.”
